AchieveMath™

Catapult Learning’s AchieveMath program provides small-group intervention for at-risk students who have difficulty achieving at grade-level in math. Developed for students in instructional levels one through eight, this program is designed to supplement, not replace, the classroom instructional program. Our goal is for students to develop better math skills and to directly apply these new skills in the classroom.

Our AchieveMath Small Group instructional programs are:

  • Backed by scientifically-based research and best practices in math instruction
  • Tailored to meet the needs of our school partners
  • Aligned to national and state standards
  • Integrate an effective combination of individualized assessment, small-group learning with direct instruction, guided and independent practice, parent involvement and a student motivation program

A step-by-step instructional approach makes learning logical.
To make sure the needs of students who are struggling with math in the regular classroom are met, the program uses current research findings as well as principles and standards established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Our program’s step-by-step approach presents mathematical concepts sequentially, taking students from the concrete to the abstract and includes:

  • A variety of mathematics manipulatives
  • Reinforcement of basic math fact knowledge
  • Application of lessons learned through word problems
  • Problem solving
  • Data collection
  • Activities that use effective questioning techniques

A Complete Skill-Building Toolkit
Research has shown how important it is for students struggling with math to practice mathematical concepts using concrete manipulatives. In the AchieveMath programs, students use cubes, blocks, fraction bars and more to build their hands-on understanding of concepts before moving on to pictorial representations and algorithms.

Catapult Learning's AchieveMath PlusTech™ program combines teacher-directed instruction in groups of no more than eight students with self-paced computer instruction:

  • Students participate in face-to-face and self-paced computer instruction on alternating days.
  • The computer lab is monitored by a trained computer technician.
  • Computer instruction takes advantage of nationally recognized educational software.
  • The self-paced lessons target individual student skill weaknesses previously identified in face-to-face instructional sessions.
  • The learning paths for each student are reviewed by the teacher and adjustments are made as needed.
  • Frequent progress assessments help teachers track progress for each student.
