Reading selections represent both expository and narrative text, with two/thirds of the selections being expository to support the national reading standards’ distribution of focus. Each lesson is supported by a specific reading text selection. These selections were chosen to represent cultural and economic diversity, and vary by topic, focus, genre, style, format and length, with an emphasis on content area topics and support. Text selections range in readability from 8.0 – 12.0 reading level and have been bound as an anthology selection for students’ and teachers’ use.
Program prerequisites include:
Students eligible for the program must be enrolled in 9th – 12th grades with a reading level of 8.5 or greater. Reading level must be based on assessment results provided by the district prior to the start of the program.
