Leadership Seminars

Catapult Learning offers leadership training for the principals and other school personnel. The seminars offer school leaders an opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills and enhance a school environment that is positive, industrious, and reflective of best practices. Participants in these seminars will be furnished with take home materials to assist them in applying what they have learned in their own school environments and will be afforded ample opportunity to interact with peers during the course of each seminar.

Leadership experts will present research-based and best practices topics. Seminars range from one day to several day events throughout the year.

Leading to Success
Leadership involves personal engagement and critical self-assessment. In this session, the participant will become engaged in a reflection of their core values, goals, and interests. Participants will become familiar with a broad range of strategic leadership skills and how to utilize those skills for effective strategic planning, and will practice various innovative and effective communication techniques.

Leading for Learning
Leaders recognize and develop effective learning environments. Participants will examine characteristics of a responsive classroom and how it eliminates barriers to learning for students. Multiple dimensions will be discussed: physical space, classroom rules and procedures, accessibility of materials, and teacher/student movement within the classroom. Leaders also recognize and can evaluate qualities of effective teachers. Discussion will include how an effective teacher impacts the interest, motivation, and productivity of students and encourages students to be active learners.

Leading Change for Student Achievement
Leaders implement effective observation and feedback techniques with their classroom teachers. During this session, participants will focus on qualities of effective observers. Quantitative and qualitative data will be discussed; a variety of observation tools will be demonstrated, including the "walk-through"; and participants will explore effective observation follow-up techniques. Participants will complete a cumulative project during this day that synthesizes the concepts of their personal leadership style, effective learning environments, effective observations, and expected student outcomes.

Leading Data-Driven Schools
Leaders utilize data to make daily decisions with their staff, students, and parents. Participants will explore techniques to analyze school data, connect intervention recommendations directly to students, and discuss how to set realistic and reachable school benchmarks and student goals. Attendees will review school improvement blueprints, retrospective surveys and have the opportunity to discuss how they may apply their unique school's needs.
