AchieveMath Small Group
Our AchieveMath Small Group teaches critical skills and strategies for math success in a small-group setting.
Highly trained teachers work with no more than six students in a session, encouraging active and thoughtful participation by
each child.
As in all our programs, instruction is diagnostic and prescriptive, and learning plans are developed individually and reflect the specific needs and learning styles of each student.
Catapult Learning’s AchieveMath program provides small-group intervention for at-risk students who have difficulty achieving at grade-level in math. The goal of the AchieveMath program is for students to develop better math skills and to directly apply these newly learned skills in the classroom.
Our AchieveMath Small Group instructional programs are:
- Backed by scientifically-based research and best practices in math instruction
- Tailored to meet the needs of our school partners
- Aligned to national and state standards
- An effective combination of individualized assessment, small-group learning with direct instruction, guided and independent practice, parent involvement and a student motivation program
The AchieveMath Program uses current research findings as well as principles and standards established by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Our program’s step-by-step approach presents mathematical concepts sequentially within and across grade levels. New concepts are taught using concrete manipulatives allowing students to build their hands-on understanding of concepts before moving on to pictorial representations and algorithms.
The AchieveMath Program includes:
- A variety of mathematics manipulatives (e.g., unifix cubes, fraction bars, base ten blocks)
- Reinforcement of basic math fact knowledge
- Application of lessons learned through word problems
- Problem solving and application activities
- Data collection activities
- Effective questioning techniques to encourage higher order thinking
